Privacy notice
We collect very little, because a reference publication does not need much to work.
Last updated 26 August 2026
The short version
- No advertising, and no advertising trackers.
- No selling, renting or sharing of personal data.
- No account required to read anything.
- The only personal data we hold is an email address, if you choose to give us one.
Analytics
We measure how the site is used so we know which guides are working and which are not. We use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics: no cross-site tracking, no advertising identifiers, no attempt to profile individual readers, and no cookie wall.
The briefing list
If you subscribe, we hold your email address and the date you subscribed, for the purpose of sending the briefing. We do not use it for anything else, and we do not pass it to anyone. Every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe; unsubscribing deletes the address.
Correspondence
If you write to us — a correction, a source, an enquiry — we keep the message and your address so we can act on it and, where relevant, record the provenance of a correction. Corrections are logged publicly, but we do not publish your name or address unless you ask us to.
Hosting and logs
The site is served as static files from a content delivery network. The provider processes standard request data, including IP address, in order to deliver pages and protect the service from abuse. We do not use that data to identify readers.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to us through the contact page and we will act on it.
Changes
Material changes to this notice will be dated here.
